How do we get back there from here?
The word unprecedented has been thrown around like "Wassuuppppppp" was in the late 90s. But if this isn't the time for "unprecedented" then when is?
A number of weeks ago we made the decision to close the Arcade and The Community Rooms just after the Government advised the public to not go out to gather in pubs and similar venues (like ours). We have been relatively lucky enough to receive some of the limited government support available, but unfortunately, its highly likely we'll be struggling for a while like so many others, assuming optimistically that we are able to open by August at the latest.
We looked into the possibilities of diversifying, but frankly we operate on such small margins (we are not-for-profit after all) and nothing we sell or have in stock currently would suit an online/delivery based service. As time as gone on though, we have decided to take some steps to start bringing the public some content online, partly to show we're still active, but also to entertain people as much as we can.
Now we're at the point where we feel we can launch something new and exciting, both to support us in the lead up to re-opening and also to help generate more exciting content online!
That's right, we've got a Patreon!
What's Patreon you say? In their own words: "Patreon is a way to join your favorite creator's community and pay them for making the stuff you love. Instead of literally throwing money at your screen (trust us, that doesn’t work), you can now pay a few bucks per month..."
Head on over to the website, and you'll see there are (currently) 4 options for supporting us, including our monthly Memberships that are available in-house at our venue. Its the easiest way to help support us if you are able to in these unprecedented times, and we are almost certainly going to need all the help we can get.
In the meantime, please keep safe and healthy out there and we hope you are all coping well with your own lockdowns. If you want to see some of our online video content, head over to any of our streaming platforms below:
